Osteoarthritis (OA)

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disorder that primarily affects the cartilage, the protective tissue covering the ends of bones in joints. Over time, the cartilage gradually breaks down and wears away, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced joint mobility. OA is often associated with aging but can also result from joint injuries, obesity, genetics, or other factors. Commonly affected joints include the knees, hips, hands, and spine.

How we treat Osteoarthritis (OA) at STRONG.

Treatments we often recommend for OA: At STRONG., we recommend seeking help through physiotherapy, chiropractic or naturopathy as a first step. Treatments are individualized to your needs and preferences but typical sessions may include exercise or rehabilitation focusing on the affected area, tissue release of tight muscles, joint mobilization/manipulation, or acupuncture. In some cases, working with a personal trainer on strength and weight loss can often be helpful with pain management. In some cases, it can be helpful to collaborate with your family physician for other medical or pharmacological interventions.
